Mentoring and Learning & Development (L&D) are essential for engaging and retaining new Brethren. Freemasonry can feel overwhelming at first, with new customs, traditions, and social expectations. A dedicated mentor provides personal guidance, helping initiates understand rituals, feel part of the Lodge, and build lasting friendships.

The L&D framework strengthens this by offering structured learning pathways, shared resources through Sylvan Lodge, and training for mentors themselves. Together, these ensure that every new Brother receives consistent support and the opportunity to grow in confidence and knowledge.

What we will do

  • Promote a strong mentoring culture in every Lodge.
  • Provide training and resources to support mentors and new members.
  • Encourage Lodges to use Sylvan Lodge and Solomon to build knowledge.
  • Ensure mentoring continues beyond initiation, guiding long-term development.

Success will mean

  • New members feel confident, included, and inspired.
  • Retention rates improve across the Province.
  • Lodges become stronger through deeper member participation.
