ESSEX FREEMASONS DONATE £1,000 TO KIDS INSPIRE

Kids Inspire, a leading Chelmsford based charity which supports children and young people recovering from traumatic experiences and those that are dealing with emerging mental health difficulties, have received a grant of £1,000 from Essex Freemasons.

The money, £500 which was donated by the Lodge of Good Fellowship, which also meets at Chelmsford, with the balance paid from the Essex Freemasons Community Fund, will help Kids Inspire meet a funding shortfall caused by the recent Covid-19 pandemic.

Paula Ashfield, the charity’s fund-raising manager, commented: “in spite of Covid we have not stopped working as a charity and have maintained our levels of therapy sessions – some 450 per week - by going on-line. I am very grateful to the Lodge for their support. It is donations like these which enable us to continue our work. Around 30% of our funding comes in from our generous supporters such as Freemasons and it is that money which is used to fund some of our projects, including – Reclaiming Lives – which reaches out to young people and their families who have experienced trauma, and more recently - Talk Together – our Covid-19 response project.”

Kids Inspire works to make a positive difference to young lives by shaping their futures. Through proactive listening and therapeutic practice, they promote self-resilience, greater self-awareness, and relationship building to empower more positive life choices. David Marsh and Bob Mathew visited the charity to hand over the grant on behalf of Lodge of Good Fellowship, one of the oldest Lodges in Essex which has been regularly meeting since 1770.

David Marsh commented: “As a Lodge we like to support local charities and what could be better than Kids Inspire which make such a huge difference for young people with mental health issues. It is something our members wanted to support.”

Freemasons donate almost £2 million a year to local charities across the county, which has recently been boosted by additional money from the Essex Freemasons Community Fund which tries to match fund individual Lodge donations to maximise support for good causes.
