Burntwood Lodge continues the support to Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund

Representatives from the Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund give a presentation on their history and how Freemasonry has helped

At the recent meeting of the Burntwood Lodge (The Charity Stewards’ Lodge) No. 8016 held at Chelmsford Masonic Hall, welcomed representatives from the Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund.

Lindsey Bidwell (Relations & Partnership Manager) and Jess Snooks (Corporate Events & Schools Coordinator) gave a presentation on the history of Lennox Children’s Charity Fund and how Freemasonry has helped.

Lennox https://www.lennoxccf.org.uk is an Essex based, National Charity that has been supporting families with young cancer patients for over 30 years.

They have been regularly supported by Essex Freemasons over that time. In recent years they received support to create and distribute back-packs to families, so that those families can have useful items when they are staying with their children in six hospitals in Essex. These have proved invaluable in helping to ease the stress on those family members and ensure that their children are supported without external pressures. This initiative has now been taken up by the Metropolitan Grand Lodge of London for London hospitals. Last year they also received a grant from Essex Freemasons to improve working projects coming out of the shutdown created by the Covid pandemic.

Going forward the Provincial Charity Team are looking to help Lennox refurbish their holiday site in the New Forest: watch out for more information and maybe requests for help from those who have suitable skills.

Chris Hicks, Worshipful Master (WM) of Burntwood Lodge and Provincial Grand Charity Steward (PGChStwd), announced that £500 would be donated to the charity from the Lodge and the Essex Provincial Charity Fund.

Lindsey responded in thanking the Lodge and that this would pay for two family support sessions.
