A Night of Charity and Celebration: Burntwood Lodge Installation 2025
The Charity Steward Lodge for Essex adds another chapter to its proud tradition of Charitable service
Burntwood Lodge No. 8016 – the dedicated Charity Steward Lodge for Essex – recently celebrated at the Hutton Masonic Centre a truly heartwarming and inspiring Installation meeting, marking a new chapter in its proud tradition of charitable service.
The Provincial Grand Master, Paul Tarrant was in attendance for this special evening, with Steve Bruyel, Deputy Provincial Grand Charity Steward, being installed as Worshipful Master of the Lodge in a ceremony filled with meaning and purpose. His installation signifies not only a personal milestone but also the continuation of Burntwood’s core mission – putting charity at the heart of Freemasonry.
As is customary with Burntwood, the meeting was followed by one of their signature White Table events, where Masons, their partners, friends, and guests gathered for a relaxed and inclusive festive board. These dinners are always enhanced by meaningful engagement with local and national charitable causes – and this meeting was no exception.
Shining a Spotlight on Health Innovation
Guests were privileged to hear from the team at ‘The Southend Hospital ‘Spotlight’ Radiotherapy Appeal’, an organisation making waves in medical innovation. They shared details of their project to acquire a cutting-edge brain scanner – a game-changing addition for local healthcare services.
Thanks to the generosity of Essex Freemasons, a phenomenal £77,000 donation was recently made to Spotlight, helping bring this vision closer to reality. The presentation reminded everyone of the real-world impact Freemasonry has on communities across the county.
Supporting the TLC Appeal
In another highlight of the evening, Burntwood Lodge proudly announced a £500 donation to the TLC Appeal (Teddies for Loving Care), becoming a Patron Lodge of this wonderful initiative.
TLC – founded in Essex nearly 25 years ago and now a global Masonic initiative – provides teddy bears to children attending A&E departments. Whether offering comfort during a frightening moment or helping a doctor explain a procedure, these teddies bring reassurance and smiles when they’re needed most.
A Lodge with a Mission
Burntwood Lodge continues to be a shining example of Freemasonry in action. With a unique focus on charitable stewardship, the Lodge not only promotes the work of Essex Freemasons but actively creates opportunities for members and guests to support meaningful causes at every meeting.
Congratulations to Steve Bruyel on his Installation – under his guidance, Burntwood Lodge is clearly set to continue making a powerful difference across Essex and beyond.
