Tom Kendle of Orsett Lodge No. 5424 will be scaling the heights of Mount Snowdon to raise money for charity. Tom, along with several members of Essex Cornerstone Club will undertake the challenge to be held during August.

Thurrock Firefighter Tom made the decision to use the endeavour to raise some money and awareness for his chosen cause ‘The Firefighters Charity’ and the response has been phenomenal.

Donations from friends and family have already seen his original goal of £150 easily surpassed on the JustGiving page he created. The generosity of his supporters has seen pledges of over £1,000 and still growing.

Not content however, Tom has toured Masonic Centres throughout Essex from Thurrock to Shenfield to Rochford, with the kind donations from Raffles and Auctions now amassing an eye watering figure of over £3,250!!

During July 1st at an American themed Festive Board, Rochford Hundred Lodge No. 8922 donated the proceeds from a Raffle and Auction which amounted to over £2,000.

Sibelius Lodge No. 9448 also contributed £500 to the cause and commented “Well done Tom, we are delighted to support such a worthy cause. Wishing you every success from Martyn and all the guys at Sibelius.”

Tom chose the Firefighters charity to promote awareness of the work and noted “The charity gives personalised support to the whole of the fire service community and is always invaluable by supporting the Mental, Physical and Emotional health of not only serving firefighters, control and support staff as well as their families. They have a huge impact and are vitally important.”

To physically prepare for the challenge of climbing 3,560 feet to the highest mountain peak in England and Wales, Tom has been regularly walking and running and is looking forward to raising as much money as possible for his chosen charity.

If anyone wishes to still donate to this worthy cause, there is still time, and you can do this by visiting his JustGiving page:
