50 years of housing and support celebrated by the Masonic Housing Association with Golden Anniversary Luncheon

On Sunday, 18th May 2025, the atmosphere at Saxon Hall, Southend was filled with warmth, laughter, and celebration as over 100 guests gathered to mark the 50th Anniversary of the Masonic Housing Association (MHA).
Held in partnership with Hamilton Court, South Woodham Ferrers, the event paid joyful tribute to five decades of dedication to providing housing and support for both members and non-members, of the Masonic community.
Guests were welcomed with a cheerful drinks reception before sitting down to a delicious celebratory lunch. The room was buzzing with conversation and connection, as residents, trustees, members of the wider Masonic family, and local dignitaries came together to share in the occasion.
The afternoon was marked by heartfelt and inspiring speeches. Guest speakers were introduced to the stage by event organiser Robert (Bob)
Matthew, who coordinated the occasion with the help of dedicated volunteers from the Hamilton Court Committee. Geoffrey Dearing, President of the MHA, spoke passionately about the Association’s proud legacy and bright future. He was followed by Paul Tarrant, Provincial Grand Master of Essex (PGM), who was warmly supported by members of the Provincial Executive, all showing their appreciation for the lasting impact of the MHA.
The celebration was further enriched by the presence of Councillor Bob Massey and the Mayor of South Woodham Ferrers, Alan Sheering, accompanied by his wife Hazel, offering their heartfelt congratulations and civic pride in the achievements of the Association.
Adding to the inclusive spirit of the day, the event warmly welcomed representatives from the women’s Masonic Orders. In attendance were Elaine Malone and Lesley Potticary from the Order of Women Freemasons, along with Irene Stewart, Christine Chesterman, and Chrissy West-Webb from the Honourable Fraternity of Ancient Freemasons, a symbol of unity and shared purpose across the Masonic family.
The afternoon ended on a truly high note with a rousing performance by Triple Fuse, professional singers celebrated for their show, ‘A Night on Broadway, Opera, and Around the World’. Their spectacular voices and vibrant presence had guests clapping and smiling, creating a joyful and unforgettable finale.
The event not only honoured 50 incredible years of the Masonic Housing Association but also looked forward with optimism and excitement for the years ahead.
