Old Church Lodge continue their support for Teddies for Loving Care
Old Church Lodge become a bronze patron in supporting this very worthy charity
The Old Church Lodge No. 7070 that meets at the Harlow Masonic Centre welcomed Paul Reeves, Chairman and Trustee of Teddies for Loving Care Essex (TLC) to their meeting held on Monday, 17th June.
Following an excellent ceremony of raising their member Steven Sovitch, John Allen, Worshipful Master (WM) introduced Paul together with Brian McGuinness who gave a talk about TLC Essex and the Spotlight Appeal which was enlightening and very well received by the 41 members and guests in attendance.
The Old Church Lodge earlier in the year donated £175 to the TLC appeal but, topped that tonight by presenting a large cheque for £825, bringing their total donation to £1,000. Paul was proud to present the WM a certificate attesting that they are now Bronze Patrons of the TLC Essex appeal.
The TLC Appeal has been close to the heart of the members as some years ago the Treasurer, Richard ‘Dickie’ Coyle, started a second (smaller) raffle at their meetings in its aid. He also instigated a fine system for those not wearing a TLC lapel pin! –
This was equally successful due to Dickie having such a nice personality and when he fines you £5 for not wearing a TLC lapel pin you are strangely happy to pay!
At the Festive board therefore a further £260 was raised from this raffle together with several fines! - Such was the generosity of the Lodge they also presented a £260 cheque to Brian for the Spotlight appeal.
The Old Church Lodge members and individuals like Dickie Coyle, show a great example of engaging and promoting activities to bring fun and enjoyment to their meetings.
