Essex Freemasons have provided £10,000 to support children’s hospice care across the county this Christmas, following two visits by members of the Essex Royal Arch Freemasons and the Essex Freemasons Charity Team.
During their visit to Haven House Children’s Hospice in Woodford Green, £5,000 was presented in support of the hospice’s Bereavement Outreach Service, which depends entirely on charitable funding to deliver counselling, home visits and long-term family support. Reflecting on the visit, Essex Freemason, Peter Hollingsworth said it was “deeply moving to hear how the Bereavement Outreach Service has supported families…” and a powerful insight into the challenges families face.
At Little Havens Hospice in Benfleet, a further £5,000 donation is helping refurbish the Bereavement Suite and supporting the hospice’s Christmas activities. Aron, from the Little Havens Fundraising Team, said, “We are incredibly grateful for this generous £5,000 donation from the Essex Royal Arch Freemasons. It will make a real, tangible difference, not only helping us refurbish our Bereavement Suite, but also supporting our Christmas activities, which help us raise even more funds for the families who rely on us.”
After touring the hospice, Another local Freemason Dennis Baum added, “It was inspiring to see the extraordinary care given at Little Havens. This donation will help ensure families continue to receive the compassionate support they need, especially during the festive season.”
The Essex Royal Arch Freemasons also committed to providing volunteer support for the hospice’s Christmas Tree Recycling initiative in January 2026, further strengthening their hands-on involvement with local families and hospice staff.
These donations form part of a wider seasonal effort by Essex Freemasons to support schools and hospices across the county, ensuring comfort and connection reach families who need it most. The contributions also support the Essex 250th Anniversary, Building Together, celebrations, reflecting 250 years of charitable service to local communities.
