Rochford Freemason recognised for 60 years Meritorious Service

Retired electrical engineer, Arthur Baldock, presented with Certificate from Assistant Provincial Grand Master.

At the first meeting in 2024 of Trinity Lodge No. 1734 which meets at Rochford Masonic Hall, Arthur Baldock, a retired electrical engineer, celebrated 60 years as a Freemason. He was initiated into Vigilantia Lodge No. 7357 in 1963 at the Kensington Palace Hotel and in those days the Lodge of Instruction was held at the Law Courts.

Arthur joined Trinity Lodge in 2009 and installed as Worshipful Master in 2022. A holder of Senior London Grand Rank, Arthur received his first provincial appointment as a Provincial Junior Grand Deacon in 2017 and was promoted to Past Provincial Deputy Grand Registrar in 2022.  Arthur is also a member of Trinity Chapter of Royal Arch Masons in which he was First Principal in 2009 and 2012.

On presenting the Certificate for 60 years Meritorious Service to Freemasonry, on behalf of Paul Tarrant, the Provincial Grand Master, the Assistant Provincial Grand Master for the Lodge, Martin Howse, said “Arthur has been married to his wife Joan since 1962, just a bit longer than he has been a Freemason!”

For the 7,500 plus Freemasons in Essex who are members of 289 Lodges meeting at 26 centres across the County, ‘service’ is one of the four key values. Whether participating in events, fundraising for a charitable cause or volunteering for public or community organisations, service is at the very heart of Freemasonry whose members make valuable contributions by donating time, resources and skills.
