Mark Lockwood Chapter No. 3114 celebrate their Centenary
A significant milestone achieved as a testament to the resilience of the Mark Lockwood Chapter
At the Chingford Masonic Centre on Saturday 18th May, the Mark Lockwood Chapter No. 3114, celebrated its Centennial Convocation commemorating a century of fellowship, tradition, and service.
In honour of this significant milestone, the Deputy Grand Superintendent (DepGSupt), Elliott Chevin, attended the event accompanied by a distinguished delegation from the Provincial Executive.
The celebration began with a compelling oration by John Hubbard, Third Provincial Grand Principal. His speech provided an in-depth exploration of the Chapter’s name and recounted numerous historical milestones both within the Province and beyond over the past hundred years and more. His address was a blend of historical insight and reflective homage, illustrating the Chapter’s enduring legacy and pivotal moments that have shaped its journey.
Following this, Paul Swinge, Third Principal of the Chapter, delivered an informative and heartfelt lecture on the history of the Chapter. His presentation was rich with anecdotes and historical details, offering a comprehensive narrative of the Chapter’s evolution, challenges, and accomplishments and served as a poignant tribute to the Chapter's founding members and their lasting contributions.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of the 100-year Provincial Certificate to the Chapter’s Principals by the DepGSupt. In his congratulatory remarks, he praised the Chapter for its century of achievements and dedication. He underscored the importance of this milestone as a testament to the Chapter’s resilience, community spirit, and commitment to Masonic values.
The Convocation was followed by a joyous Festive Board, where the Companions shared a hearty meal in an atmosphere of warmth and camaraderie. The evening was filled with laughter, storytelling, and a deep sense of masonic companionship. Each Companion received a commemorative glass tumbler, a unique keepsake symbolising the unity and shared history of the Chapter. This thoughtful gift was a cherished memento of the evening’s celebrations.
