St Osyth’s Priory Lodge celebrate their 140 years in the St Osyth Priory
St Osyth’s Priory Lodge No. 2063 celebrate in their namesake building the magnificent St Osyth Priory
The Brethren of St Osyth’s Priory Lodge No. 2063 that meet at the Colvin Memorial Temple, Clacton-On-Sea along with 107 friends and family celebrated their 140th Anniversary at The St Osyth Priory. The event restricted to 110 guests took place on the 9th November 2024 very close to the date when the Lodge was consecrated during the 11th November 1884.
An excellent 3 course meal was served with wine in the dining room and in between one of the courses a brief talk was given by Grand Officer, Peter Harris on the connection between St Osyth’s Priory Lodge and the Priory itself which is steeped in over 1,400 years of culture, history, and legend; Peter is an expert on the subject which was fully appreciated by all in attendance.
A raffle was held in aid of St Helena Hospice in Colchester. This raised a magnificent £1065 and was proudly presented to Rebecca, from the hospice, a few days later by John Richardson and Lloyd Sergent which was gratefully received.
Following dining the guests retired downstairs to the bar area and enjoyed musical entertainment until midnight.
The organisers thanked everyone who attended and plans, for the 150th, are already underway!
