The Visiting Officer (VO) scheme is designed to create stronger links between Lodges and Provincial leadership. Each Lodge is assigned a Visiting Officer who acts as a dedicated point of contact, offering guidance, support, and clear two-way communication. Importantly, the VO is intended to be a friend of the Lodge, helping to resolve issues, share best practice, and ensure members feel connected to the wider Province.

By fostering closer relationships and open dialogue, the scheme provides Lodges with direct access to Provincial support while giving the Province a clearer understanding of members’ needs and aspirations. This will create a more supportive, proactive environment across Essex, ensuring Lodges feel valued and part of a united Masonic community.

What we will do

  • Assign a Visiting Officer to every Lodge as a consistent point of contact.
  • Encourage VOs to act as friends and supporters, not inspectors.
  • Use the VO network to strengthen communication between Lodges and Province.
  • Share best practice across Lodges through the VO structure.

Success will mean

  • Lodges feel connected, supported, and valued.
  • Members experience quicker access to guidance and assistance.
  • A stronger sense of unity and vibrancy across Essex Freemasonry.
