Charity has always been at the heart of Essex Freemasonry, and the upcoming Festival, anticipated in 2027/28, will mark a significant milestone in our Provincial charitable giving. Festivals are major fundraising campaigns, typically lasting five to six years, and culminating in a substantial contribution to the Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF). For a Province the size of Essex, the sums raised will be among the largest in the country.

The years leading up to the launch are crucial. Lodges should begin preparing now by encouraging members to set up Regular Payment Plans (RPPs), either for their Lodge relief chests or for FEST2033, ensuring we start building momentum early. A strong foundation of giving will allow us to hit the ground running and demonstrate the generosity of Essex Freemasonry from day one.

This pre-Festival period also requires balance. While we look ahead to the challenge of raising funds for the MCF and the Province, we must not neglect our existing commitments to local charities and causes. These relationships remain vital and must continue to reflect our visible support for the communities where we meet.

In parallel, the Essex Freemasons Community Fund provides another way to deliver impact during the Festival years. Lodges and Chapters are encouraged to make annual donations to ensure that, while focused on the Festival, the Province can still respond to local needs.

What we will do

  • Encourage Lodges to begin early Festival preparations through Regular Payment Plans.
  • Promote a dual approach: supporting both local charities and building towards the Festival.
  • Ensure every Lodge and Chapter contributes annually to the Essex Freemasons Community Fund.
  • Provide guidance and resources to help Lodges plan their fundraising strategically.

Success will mean

  • Essex Freemasonry enters the Festival period strongly prepared.
  • Lodges continue to support local charities while contributing to Provincial and national goals.
  • The Province makes a record-breaking contribution to the MCF and local causes.
  • Freemasonry’s charitable reputation in Essex is strengthened for generations to come.
