Turning up the heat at the Cornerstone Lodge installation meeting
The Cornerstone Lodge embrace the rich and vibrant culture of Turkey for their unique themed Installation meeting Festive Board
On the 14th of December 2024, the Cornerstone Lodge No. 9968 held their installation meeting at the Howard Hall Masonic Centre in Braintree. This special occasion attended by Nick Franklin, Deputy Provincial Grand Master, marked the installation of Barry Hayward into the Worshipful Master’s chair. He was installed by the outgoing Master, Jack Saunders, who had a truly remarkable year leading the lodge.
As is tradition with the Cornerstone Lodge, each meeting is graced with a unique theme, and December’s meeting was no exception. Embracing the rich and vibrant culture of Turkey, the evening’s theme brought a touch of the exotic to Essex.
After the meeting, the brethren held a video call with the Grand Master of Turkey. He was charismatic and explained how freemasonry operated in Turkey, providing fascinating insights that enriched the event.
The highlight of the evening was the Festive Board, which was a feast for the senses. Members and guests were treated to an array of authentic Turkish dishes, capturing the flavours and traditions of the region. The atmosphere was warm and joyful, as attendees enjoyed the food and fellowship.
Completing the amazing evening were the captivating performances of Turkish fire dancers. Their mesmerizing routines, combining grace and daring skill, left everyone in awe. The performers’ dances with fire created an unforgettable spectacle, earning gasps of amazement and shocked applause from the audience.
This installation meeting perfectly encapsulated the Cornerstone Lodge’s spirit of innovation, celebration, and camaraderie.
It was an evening to remember, setting the tone for an exciting year ahead under the leadership of Barry Hayward.
