Gary Hostler, Provincial Grand Almoner reports on the recent announcement by the RMBI of their proposed disposal of care homes

You may be aware of the announcement by the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution (RMBI) in respect of the proposed disposal of their care homes portfolio.
There has been speculation about the decision but please be assured that the decision has been made with the right motivations and with an eye to the masonic responsibilities the RMBI has always fulfilled.
More information will be shared as and when it is made available but, in the meantime, we have received the following from the Masonic Charity Foundation:
“This is just a quick note to clarify how to give feedback regarding the announcement made by the RMBI’s Board of Trustees on 25th February 2026.
Any queries should be directed, in the first instance, to the RMBI using a dedicated email address that has been created to respond to questions about the announcement, which is:
There is no need to do anything differently for the time being in terms of your support for existing residents and their families - care for all residents in RMBI Care Co Homes is continuing as normal, and all the Homes remain open to new residents.”
As soon as any update is received, the Province are committed to updating you all with any information we feel relevant under the circumstances.
It is important to stress that Hamilton Court and all Masonic Housing Association sites are unaffected by the announcement.
Sincerely
Gary Hostler
Provincial Grand Almoner
